How to get there

The tiny town of Tulum, Mexico, is 90 minutes south from Cancun.

Tulum a Paradise

The Riviera Maya is the area of Mexico's Caribbean coast from Cancun to roughly Tulum, and Tulum is about a half hour south of Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya.

You can arrive there from the Cancun International Airport by renting a car, private or public shuttle, or by bus.

Archeological zones and museums

The only major Maya city built next to the sea: Tulum is one of the most visited archaeological sites on the Yucatan Peninsula, due in part to its close proximity to Cancun.

 

Tulum Archeologic Zone

It is an impressive site, although, perhaps not quite as impressive as either Chichen Itza or Uxmal. Still, Tulum represents a fine example of the architecture and history of the Mayan people and is worth a visit.

Nightlife

Tulum bars and clubs are abounding on the beach area because it is where tourists and guests gather around. Although the bars and clubs in this Caribbean coast are bustling with activities, you should not expect it to be as wild and noisy as those found on the other areas of the Riviera Maya which is a band of coastlines found in the Caribbean side of the Yucatan region.
